The rise (and fall and rise) of crypto currencies has been fascinating to watch. For all the sound and fury, the relative place of a crypto currency like Bitcoin (BTC) with a market cap of approximately $41B is still miniscule, there is much room for growth. Having experimented a bit with crypto currencies (mining, trading, and ICOs) I believe the outlook is bright for crypto currencies over the long run and for the application of block-chain technologies to other real-world problems that would benefit from a write-once, distributed, public ledger.
